The recommended base — genuine resorts with a pool and a spa on-site, so Julie never has to leave the property; walkable to Sonoma Plaza for strolls & dinner. On the heat: Sonoma runs ~mid-80s — a touch warmer than Petaluma's low-80s but nowhere near Napa's 90s, and at a resort pool that warmth is the whole point.

The other strong option: famous geothermal mineral pools and one of wine country's best spas. Room ~$809, so with a treatment it's ~$1,050 — well inside budget. Lower guest rating than the Lodge and a bit further from the Plaza, but the mineral pools + destination spa are the draw.
Around the resorts: Sonoma Plaza — California's largest town square, flat, shaded, with a duck pond and tasting rooms/shops/cafés ringing it — is a perfect baby stroll (~10-min walk from the Lodge), plus the paved Sonoma bike path and the free Cornerstone gardens nearby.
